Eratosthenes first measured the circumference of the earth from the shadows cast by the sun. Today, humanity's fitness to survive will be measured by our ability to conquer that same thermonuclear fusion that casts those shadows. Thus, Prometheus will truly be unbound.

Chicago Tribune: "Why Obama should withdraw"
While it is impossible to disagree with this assessment. The problem is waiting til the next election is too long. Obama should retire now...I'm sure he can be fully occupied with pick up basketball somewhere in Chicago or maybe Hawaii.
