Vernadsky Riemann Dimensionality: an Illustration

The recent finding by Johns Hopkins researchers that rhomboid enzymes travel beyond the cellular "speed limit" is illustrative of the unique manner in which biophysics is of a higher qualitative "dimension." That principle is of profound importance for the epistemology of science. For in dealing with space per se, we must distinguish from pure imaginary mathematical space and the functional living qualities of biophysical and noetic space and the interactions among these "realms."

As background, I recently posed the question of why humanity was at a kind of intellectual bottleneck or stultification on the issue of the planetary motions for centuries. One might be tempted to locate the answer in the necessary technological prerequisites not having been developed for accurate measurements of heavenly motions. However, this would be akin to missing the forest for the trees. Because the degrees of freedom required for society to break the bounds of prior constraining limits cannot be attributed to mere epiphenomena of a revolutionary change in its perspective underlying axioms.

The issue is that the historical mythological blinders imposed by the oligarchy were finally shattered enough to provide a freer rein to the creative potential of humanity. The classical Greek philosophers were certainly asking the right questions about hypothesizing the nature of planetary motions, inter alia, and most importantly the nature of the ruling ideological limitations of their society. What about the organization of their society allowed for a Socrates or Plato to so severely challenge the control of oligarchy?

Plato's dialog regarding the universality of human reason, The Meno, set the stage for what Augustine exemplified as the new dispensation. If a mere slave boy can recreate the most profound geometrical proofs independently of anything other than an internal dialog, the cult of the Pantheon of the gods must crumble and give way. The Promethean intellectual fire that the school of Athens lit would not be doused over the centuries, but reignite time and again in a ever yet more qualitatively powerful incarnation.

Ultima Thule and the Dark Side of the Moon: the Fugue

It has been nearly miraculous that humanity has survived thus far without truly examining its critical vulnerabilities in the full light of day. The submission to arbitrary rule by an ordained class must be abandoned once and for all.

As Beethoven presaged in his great string quartet The Grosse Fuge, the Socratic dialogue of civilizations "must be" in the age of space. Once and forever.

Why the Theory of Everything is Dead on Arrival

If current "free thinkers" would abandon their empiricist prejudices and actually make an attempt to comprehend that which the true founder of modern scientific inquiry, Nicholas of Cusa, pointed to as the principle of subsumed powers, the bootless Quixotic quest for a "theory of everything" would be summarily abandoned. Why? I will explain.

Instead of starting from so-called ab initio first principles of the standard model let us plunge headlong into the seeming inextricable welter of the mechanisms of what some biophysicists are calling the interactome. As I have continuously iterated here in these posts only the Riemannian surface function can be upheld as approaching the possibility of a mathematical model for the multi-dimensional interactions within and among the earth's lithosphere, biosphere and noosphere.

Begin with this fully developed complexity that we unearth through scientific investigation and the irony of the absurdity of a physics modeled upon "atom smashers" comes fully into view. The problem though is the woeful lack of even any attempt at comprehending epistemology by the physics "community" that Schrodinger evinced in What Is Life a century or so ago.

LaRouche put it succinctly some time ago when he quipped that the physics professor propounding the universality of the second law of thermodynamics at the blackboard curiously cannot account for his own existence.

In just one among a myriad of illustrations of what I mean this one posted by Dr. Lieff called the Very Intelligent Protein mTOR I recently came across is very apt. While I may take issue with the author's teleology, at least he is on the right planet.

Randomness is Non Existence

Re: Replaying the tape of life: Is it possible?

Substance itself possesses a latency by virtue of an overriding harmonic dynamism. This is what Leibniz called pre-established harmony. So evolution is confined to a projectory based upon a global order. It is not pre-determined that such and such will occur, only that such and such if it occurs will evolve toward a higher or lower state of potentiation.

The simplistic conceit that random mutations rule reality is tantamount to positing entropy as inevitable. However human history's success in technological advancement belies this and points to a contradictory higher order which negates entropy. Everything in the governance of society's future path comes down to whether the pessimistic and degraded oligarchical outlook or the Promethean human one will prevail.

Decoding Edgar Allan Poe

The recurring Poe protagonist (and alter ego) C. Auguste Dupin was decidedly not the archetype of the genre of so-called detective novels. All one needs do to prove this to oneself is simply read what Poe has written about the method of scientific investigation in his Mellonta Tauta. This satire replicates Leibniz' (whom Poe greatly admired) book length refutation of the "creeping and crawling" ontology of John Locke's infamous empiricism. Thus Sherlock Holmes is the very antithesis of Dupin. Q.E.D.

And as my Twitter acquaintance Undine has reminded me, this month is the anniversary of the publishing of Edgar's the Gold Bug in French. I leave you with this:

1845 “Le Scarabée d’or” ("The Gold-Bug") appeared in "Revue Britannique." It was the first translation of Poe's work into a foreign language.

Re: The International Edgar Allan Poe Festival & Awards

Deluded denizens of Mobtown: Hear me:

This put on farce of celebrating Poe’s demise desecrates the memory of one of the greatest poets and thinkers America has ever produced. Edgar Allan Poe was not the ghoulish Halloween scribbler that your mindless acolytes believe he was. Poe on many occasions denounced the misconception bruited abroad that he was a “Gothic” writer.
On the contrary, Poe was a patriotic anti mob rule satirist. For example, he roasted the two United States Presidents of his time that brought on untold economic misery through their pernicious economic policies Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. (The same Van Buren who was a protégé of the traitorous founder of Chase Manhattan and assassin Aaron Burr.) Poe’s story The Gold Bug was a broadside against Jackson who was known at the time as THE Gold Bug. Jackson’s banning of the Second National Bank and resort to specie resumption brought down upon these shores monstrous economic misery. King Pest is a satire of Jackson’s mob rule politics where Andrew Jackson plays the role of the President presiding over the plague in the City of London. At the time, no literate reader could have missed the allusion Poe was making. The Devil in the Belfry in the story of that name was Martin Van Buren who was yet more perfidious than his predecessor Jackson. I could go on for quite some length in this vein but won’t belabor the point here. If you are interested visit my blog Thingumbobesquire@blogspot.com  In particular read the entry TheWorld of Edgar Allan Poe: The Poetic Principle.

Yet now you who know nothing of your own history parade around as admirers of Poe as a grisly horror story writer. Poe is laughing at you all from the grave as it were with poetic irony in a poem I will leave you with: For Annie. (Which regrettably, I am afraid like the irony in everything he wrote will fall once again upon deaf ears.)

For Annie

Thank Heaven! the crisis-
The danger is past,
And the lingering illness
Is over at last-
And the fever called "Living"
Is conquered at last.

Sadly, I know
I am shorn of my strength,
And no muscle I move
As I lie at full length-
But no matter!-I feel
I am better at length.

And I rest so composedly,
Now, in my bed
That any beholder
Might fancy me dead-
Might start at beholding me,
Thinking me dead.

The moaning and groaning,
The sighing and sobbing,
Are quieted now,
With that horrible throbbing
At heart:- ah, that horrible,
Horrible throbbing!

The sickness- the nausea-
The pitiless pain-
Have ceased, with the fever
That maddened my brain-
With the fever called "Living"
That burned in my brain.

And oh! of all tortures
That torture the worst
Has abated- the terrible
Torture of thirst
For the naphthaline river
Of Passion accurst:-
I have drunk of a water
That quenches all thirst:-

Of a water that flows,
With a lullaby sound,
From a spring but a very few
Feet under ground-
From a cavern not very far
Down under ground.

And ah! let it never
Be foolishly said
That my room it is gloomy
And narrow my bed;
For man never slept
In a different bed-
And, to sleep, you must slumber
In just such a bed.

My tantalized spirit
Here blandly reposes,
Forgetting, or never
Regretting its roses-
Its old agitations
Of myrtles and roses:

For now, while so quietly
Lying, it fancies
A holier odor
About it, of pansies-
A rosemary odor,
Commingled with pansies-
With rue and the beautiful
Puritan pansies.

And so it lies happily,
Bathing in many
A dream of the truth
And the beauty of Annie-
Drowned in a bath
Of the tresses of Annie.

She tenderly kissed me,
She fondly caressed,
And then I fell gently
To sleep on her breast-
Deeply to sleep
From the heaven of her breast.

When the light was extinguished,
She covered me warm,
And she prayed to the angels
To keep me from harm-
To the queen of the angels
To shield me from harm.

And I lie so composedly,
Now, in my bed,
(Knowing her love)
That you fancy me dead-
And I rest so contentedly,
Now, in my bed,
(With her love at my breast)
That you fancy me dead-
That you shudder to look at me,
Thinking me dead.

But my heart it is brighter
Than all of the many
Stars in the sky,
For it sparkles with Annie-
It glows with the light
Of the love of my Annie-
With the thought of the light
Of the eyes of my Annie.

Postscript: I ambled down to the "event" yesterday and was really not impressed. Half the crowd were clueless "Goths" as expected. Next year I am considering setting up a booth to disabuse such an execrable and pervasively false narrative foisted upon us.

Perspective

A very simple question, albeit with extraordinarily profound consequences, is why did it take humanity thousands of years to unravel the system of planetary motions? And how exactly did the needed revolutionary perspective change? After all, we as a species were fixated upon these motions back as far as recorded history comes down to us in the form of epic poems.

Today the only perspective that will create a solution to the crisis facing us is putting aside everything else and striving to accomplish the incipient transformation of society from earthbound to extraterrestrial. Music please.

Re: "Why the U.S. Seeks to Hem in Russia, China and Iran"

This analysis is correct as far as it goes. However, what is lacking is an analysis of the lunatic monetary ideology that has looted the physical economy of the U.S. by putting enormous fake profits of speculative instruments in the hands of our “elites.” It is the post industrial, information age economy which must be transformed by very painful loss of control by these putative elites if the world is to survive their insane geopolitics. What the Chinese are doing by rapid build up of worldwide infrastructure needs to be replicated here. The only way of doing so is first by ending the Wall St./City of London derivatives nightmare and then by issuing trillions of credits needed for that very purpose.

Heraclitus and Astronomy

It is remarkable that when speaking of events billions of years in the past, the use of verbal tenses here is so very muddled. This galaxy obviously no longer exists as such. We are imagining a steady state of galactic evolution for no apparent reason. Take heed of the words of Heraclitus some three millennia ago on this subject.   How has the lawful evolution of star formation changed and why?

Artist’s impression of the monster galaxy COSMOS-AzTEC-1. This galaxy is located 12.4 billion light-years away and is forming stars 1000 times more rapidly than our Milky Way Galaxy. ALMA observations revealed dense gas concentrations in the disk, and intense star formation in those concentrations.

Re: The spotlight of attention is more like a strobe, say researchers

The issue of perception as a discrete phenomenon has far reaching consequences. In the revolutionary mathematical work of Bernhard Riemann's Hypothesen, the distinction of a discrete versus a continuous manifold was paramount. It is the human imagination that projects continuity in spatial relationships. This is a unique quality of the human mind that is at the basis of a principle of universal communication. The ability to conceive of a concrete infinity that subsumes the discrete is central to our creative power. That is the true source of scientific progress.

Lines Upon the Birth of New Hope

Born into a world we know not
Yet knowing far more than any creature may--
What gift of foresight sparkles anew
Midst the dawn enkindling new visions?
Obscure ere now, forever beckoning
Imagination's manifold field forward --
The scene encircles the silent serene
One broken upon the shore of the many.
Galaxies that hush and quell into awe
The remaining quest to bequeath
Posterity's grace casting ever more
Into a world yet unknown again
A life perhaps unbound by the ages
So little and precious to still a fate
Lurking beyond the torn curtain.
Will you pass the harsh and baleful gate and lead
To a land yet enshrouded as by the stardust
And light a lamp with the quest of dawn?

The Evolutionary Preconditions for the Human Mind

In the nonlinear transfinite (Cantorian) transition from the planetary lithosphere to biosphere certain preconditions are necessary. (Whether we can determine whether they are also sufficient is a matter for scientific research.)

In the realm of the lithosphere we have the solar system's planets, as well as the recently discovered exoplanets. The simple fact of this discovery alone heralds why human progress via economic growth recapitulates such transitions referenced above.

We have so far identified a few critical preconditions for biological life as we know it. In this regard comparing the lithosphere of Mars and Earth is very profitable. For one, the free energy provided by the fuel of the element phosphorous appears to be critical. Especially given the fact that it is essential to the omnipresent biological engine of ATPase (adenosine triphosphatase.) Another is the provision of an oxygenated atmosphere. The recent discovery of Earth's volcanic crustal relationship would appear to be yet another precondition for life on Earth.

There is an overarching power in the potential of the unfolding of geochemical processes where from emerges a new ordering transfinite with respect to those very same processes. I would argue that that very power is more of an unfathomable mystery to mere logic than the much vaunted quantum mechanics paradox of "action at a distance." Now that power which moves from the inorganic to the organic then lastly to the human sphere may be characterized in terms of the dynamics of energetic transformations for performance of work.

At the astrophysical level we view forces of such magnitude that can create groups of galaxies out of  mere clouds of gas. Therein lies a principle of cosmological ordering that spans billions of years and wields fantastic power which humanity is merely at the very dawn of comprehending let alone using for our species' benefit and we hope not our destruction. And yet, somehow among that universal creation of galactic star systems with their black holes and who knows what other as yet undiscovered forces, here on this planet a qualitatively higher order of life emerged. Such that there must be inherent an evolutionary directionality in the universal composition.

Likewise, the succession of species of cellular lifeforms led to higher ordered plant and animal domains. The new principle was the useful capture of elemental energy to sustain growth and reproduction. Yet the very success of this new living era upon Earth invariably led to a succession of energy and food crises. And the capability of overcoming such crises is only manifest in human creative consciousness. We alone can alter continuously our bases of useful energy via technological progress. Again, a human transfinite emergence subsuming the lower ordering stasis of the biosphere.

In the foregoing narrative, we see that forces that appear to be arbitrarily destructive at large may be overcome via the creation of novel degrees of evolutionary freedom. This sort of creative lawful problem solving must become the norm if we are to outlive the perilous evil of geopolitics that currently threatens us with the annihilation of thermonuclear war.  The geopolitical worldview that humanity is no different in essence than the brute beasts is that of the oligarchy. That oligarchy's power rests upon the control of financial speculation. If we are to provide any legacy worthy of humanity the control of that bestial worldview must be superseded once and for all.

Agape not Entropy!

The title of this "post" once adorned a table in the DFW airport that I manned with colleagues of my erstwhile association with the "LaRouche organization." Now, if an anthropological empiricist from any extant institution of "higher learning" were to perform a statistical analysis of the passersby's reactions to said polemic they might be edified that their assumptions about the bifurcation of left brain/right brain ( one might say yin yang) dualism were overwhelmingly and exhaustively proven correct. For the reactions from those passersby were always either/or. I.e., they apparently understood one word or the other, but never both. For none with the exception of myself and co-thinkers had any inkling of what that sign meant.

Yet, E. A. Poe's fictional character Dupin would at once have given assent to the principle at play. As Poe so ironically  put it:

And I rest so composedly,
Now, in my bed
That any beholder
Might fancy me dead-
Might start at beholding me,
Thinking me dead.

But the mind of humanity is immortal. As Leibniz so rigorously demonstrated there are no parts to the immediacy of conscious thought. That being the case, thought itself cannot be of the nature of things that are finite and capable of death or entropic. For those finite things must have parts that can wax or wane.

Now "ideas" may of course be finite and indeed false or relatively true. But they are not equivalent to the overarching and omnipresent human mind. For as Shelley once wrote:

Drive my dead thoughts over the universe
Like withered leaves to quicken a new birth!
And, by the incantation of this verse,

Scatter, as from an unextinguished hearth
Ashes and sparks, my words among mankind!
Be through my lips to unawakened earth

For the open secret to life everlasting is simply an inexhaustible striving to become less imperfect. Not for the sake of the rewards of the mere here and now, but rather to bequeath to our progeny a potential to do the good for their own futurity. And that is the principle of agape.
