What is propping up the decayed condition of the US after years of deliberate takedown and looting of our previously world leading manufacturing capability. Cheap labor for the production of consumer goods? Yes. But that depends upon the projection of US supremacy in raw global military power.
Now, very rapidly, the illusion of the vaunted post industrial, information, entertainment, forced criminal labor, privatized military, and consumer economy is unravelling. Because we have collectively been unwilling to forgo our addiction to these quaint illusions produced by and bestowed upon us by so called elites.
There are some very needed remedies for all this, however, implementing them means replacing these very illusions. It requires first admitting how wrong the whole direction the nation has taken especially since about the time we actually had an appropriate mission with the assassination of JFK.
Unfortunately, the way history has worked is that the shattering of illusions must wreak havoc upon our lives before we can change courses. The control over credit must be wrenched away from those who have presided over this destruction. There are many promising directions for adopting plans and policies that could pull us up by our bootstraps and allow for cooperation among nations to end this nightmare. But first, the old regime along with its train of illusions must be replaced.
