The edifice of assumptions regarding the DNA code as the program that is determinate for life is fatally flawed. The reality is that life is of a higher order of transfinite than the non living. Likewise human creative reason is of a higher such order than the domain of lower life forms. The question is why do the vast majority of scientists not know what transfinite ordering is?
Edgar Allan Poe, whence the name of this blog, in his Eureka presaged this lack of epistemological clarity thus:
"Now, my dear friend," continues the letter-writer, "it cannot be maintained that by the crawling system, exclusively adopted, men would arrive at the maximum amount of truth, even in any long series of ages; for the repression of imagination was an evil not to be counterbalanced even by absolute certainty in the snail processes. But their certainty was very far from absolute. The error of our progenitors was quite analogous with that of the wiseacre who fancies he must necessarily see an object the more distinctly, the more closely he holds it to his eyes. "Than the persons" -- the letter goes on to say -- "than the persons thus suddenly elevated by the Hog-ian philosophy into a station for which they were unfitted -- thus transferred from the sculleries into the parlors of Science -- from its pantries into its pulpits -- than these individuals a more intolerant -- a more intolerable set of bigots and tyrants never existed on the face of the earth. Their creed, their text and their sermon were, alike, the one word 'fact' -- but, for the most part, even of this one word, they knew not even the meaning. On those who ventured to disturb their facts with the view of putting them in order and to use, the disciples of Hog had no mercy whatever. All attempts at generalization were met at once by the words 'theoretical,' 'theory,' 'theorist' -- all thought, to be brief, was very properly resented as a personal affront to themselves. Cultivating the natural sciences to the exclusion of Metaphysics, the Mathematics, and Logic, many of these Bacon-engendered philosophers -- one-idead, one-sided and lame of a leg -- were more wretchedly helpless -- more miserably ignorant, in view of all the comprehensible objects of knowledge, than the veriest unlettered hind who proves that he knows something at least, in admitting that he knows absolutely nothing.
"Nor had our forefathers any better right to talk about certainty, when pursuing, in blind confidence, the a priori path of axioms, or of the Ram. At innumerable points this path was scarcely as straight as a ram's-horn. The simple truth is, that the Aristotelians erected their castles upon a basis far less reliable than air; for no such things as axioms ever existed or can possibly exist at all. This they must have been very blind, indeed, not to see, or at least to suspect; for, even in their own day, many of their long-admitted 'axioms' had been abandoned: -- 'ex nihilo nihil fit,' for example, and a 'thing cannot act where it is not,' and 'there cannot be antipodes,' and 'darkness cannot proceed from light.' These and numerous similar propositions formerly accepted, without hesitation, as axioms, or undeniable truths, were, even at the period of which I speak, seen to be altogether untenable: -- how absurd in these people, then, to persist in relying upon a basis, as immutable, whose mutability had become so repeatedly manifest!
"But, even through evidence afforded by themselves against themselves, it is easy to convict these a priori reasoners of the grossest unreason -- it is easy to show the futility -- the impalpability of their axioms in general. I have now lying before me" -- it will be observed that we still proceed with the letter -- "I have now lying before me a book printed about a thousand years ago. Pundit assures me that it is decidedly the cleverest ancient work on its topic, which is 'Logic.' The author, who was much esteemed in his day, was one Miller or Mill; and we find it recorded of him, as a point of some importance, that he rode a mill-horse whom he called Jeremy Bentham: -- but let us glance at the volume itself!
"Ah! -- 'Ability or inability to conceive,' says Mr. Mill very properly, 'is in no case to be received as a criterion of axiomatic truth.' Now, that this is a palpable truism no one in his senses will deny. Not to admit the proposition, is to insinuate a charge of variability in Truth itself, whose very title is a synonym of the Steadfast. If ability to conceive be taken as a criterion of Truth, then a truth to David Hume would very seldom be a truth to Joe; and ninety-nine hundredths of what is undeniable in Heaven would be demonstrable falsity upon Earth. The proposition of Mr. Mill, then, is sustained. I will not grant it to be an axiom; and this merely because I am showing that no axioms exist; but, with a distinction which could not have been cavilled at even by Mr. Mill himself, I am ready to grant that, if an axiom there be, then the proposition of which we speak has the fullest right to be considered an axiom -- that no more absolute axiom is -- and, consequently, that any subsequent proposition which shall conflict with this one primarily advanced, must be either a falsity in itself -- that is to say no axiom -- or, if admitted axiomatic, must at once neutralize both itself and its predecessor.
"And now, by the logic of their own propounder, let us proceed to test any one of the axioms propounded. Let us give Mr. Mill the fairest of play. We will bring the point to no ordinary issue. We will select for investigation no common-place axiom -- no axiom of what, not the less preposterously because only impliedly, he terms his secondary class -- as if a positive truth by definition could be either more or less positively a truth: -- we will select, I say, no axiom of an unquestionability so questionable as is to be found in Euclid. We will not talk, for example, about such propositions as that two straight lines cannot enclose a space, or that the whole is greater than any one of its parts. We will afford the logician every advantage. We will come at once to a proposition which he regards as the acme of the unquestionable -- as the quintessence of axiomatic undeniability. Here it is: -- 'Contradictions cannot both be true -- that is, cannot coexist in nature.' Here Mr. Mill means, for instance, -- and I give the most forcible instance conceivable -- that a tree must be either a tree or not a tree -- that it cannot be at the same time a tree and not a tree: -- all which is quite reasonable of itself and will answer remarkably well as an axiom, until we bring it into collation with an axiom insisted upon a few pages before -- in other words -- words which I have previously employed -- until we test it by the logic of its own propounder. "Now I do not quarrel with these ancients," continues the letter-writer, "so much on account of the transparent frivolity of their logic -- which, to be plain, was baseless, worthless and fantastic altogether -- as on account of their pompous and infatuate proscription of all other roads to Truth than the two narrow and crooked paths -- the one of creeping and the other of crawling -- to which, in their ignorant perversity, they have dared to confine the Soul -- the Soul which loves nothing so well as to soar in those regions of illimitable intuition which are utterly incognizant of 'path.'
"By the bye, my dear friend, is it not an evidence of the mental slavery entailed upon those bigoted people by their Hogs and Rams, that in spite of the eternal prating of their savans about roads to Truth, none of them fell, even by accident, into what we now so distinctly perceive to be the broadest, the straightest and most available of all mere roads -- the great thoroughfare -- the majestic highway of the Consistent? Is it not wonderful that they should have failed to deduce from the works of God the vitally momentous consideration that a perfect consistency can be nothing but an absolute truth? How plain -- how rapid our progress since the late announcement of this proposition! By its means, investigation has been taken out of the hands of the ground-moles, and given as a duty, rather than as a task, to the true -- to the only true thinkers -- to the generally-educated men of ardent imagination. These latter -- our Keplers -- our Laplaces -- 'speculate' -- 'theorize' -- these are the terms -- can you not fancy the shout of scorn with which they would be received by our progenitors, were it possible for them to be looking over my shoulders as I write? The Keplers, I repeat, speculate -- theorize -- and their theories are merely corrected -- reduced -- sifted -- cleared, little by little, of their chaff of inconsistency -- until at length there stands apparent an unencumbered Consistency -- a consistency which the most stolid admit -- because it is a consistency -- to be an absolute and unquestionable Truth.
"I have often thought, my friend, that it must have puzzled these dogmaticians of a thousand years ago, to determine, even, by which of their two boasted roads it is that the cryptographist attains the solution of the more complicated cyphers -- or by which of them Champollion guided mankind to those important and innumerable truths which, for so many centuries, have lain entombed amid the phonetical hieroglyphics of Egypt. In especial, would it not have given these bigots some trouble to determine by which of their two roads was reached the most momentous and sublime of their truths -- the truth -- the fact of gravitation? Newton deduced it from the laws of Kepler. "Yes, Kepler was essentially a theorist; but this title, now of so much sanctity, was, in those ancient days, a designation of supreme contempt. It is only now that men begin to appreciate that divine old man -- to sympathize with the prophetical and poetical rhapsody of his ever-memorable words. Eratosthenes first measured the circumference of the earth from the shadows cast by the sun. Today, humanity's fitness to survive will be measured by our ability to conquer that same thermonuclear fusion that casts those shadows. Thus, Prometheus will truly be unbound.

The Test for Religion
Cardinal Nicholas of Cusa in his On Learned Ignorance and Cotton Mather in his Biblia Americana each in their own way exemplify how religion can cohere and promote scientific progress. There exists a gulf between that type of Christian humanism and let us say the so called low church.
The same is true for virtually all religion. Take the Baghdad caliphate of Harun al-Rashid for instance. The development of transmission of the works of Plato, in particular his republic, as the basis of leadership by an imam parallels Cotton Mather's axiomatic approach to governance that inspired Benjamin Franklin: to do the good.
A great mission for society is necessary to uplift its vision beyond the here and now. That mission is in our stars so to speak. The ugliness of pessimism that has been virtually worshiped by so called intellectual elites in the western world for the course of the last two centuries must be overcome. There is no other path forward. People of good will are everywhere the same. That orientation is the basis for an end to the evil of geopolitics.
The future holds such a kernel for hope. Let it's universal anthem be Beethoven and Schiller's Ode to Joy.

Poe's Tomb
I walk by the tomb of Edgar Allan Poe every weekday. Sometimes I see tourists snapping photos. It is astonishing to me how large the gulf is between what the common conception of what Poe represented was. How many of these stopping by have read Eureka? And of those how many understand the underlying issue of art and science that Poe addresses therein?
Speaking of which I just finished a survey entitled Aesthetics and Astronomy. This is what I wrote there:
The reason I took this is that the APOD dated 1/22/2017 had a very profound statement that cannot be over emphasized. "No species other than human can even comprehend what is going on, nor could any human just a millennium ago." This is the touchstone for comprehending evolution. It is what Vladimir Vernadsky about a century ago named the Noosphere. It represents a true or good infinity or transfinite. Additionally the launching of humanity into space is a singularity in evolution that Bernhard Riemann modeled as a branchpoint from one qualitatively distinct manifold functional phase space through to another higher one. It also points to the absolute necessity of space colonization. It is not an option. The current crisis humanity is in the throes of can only be resolved by advancing that mission onward.

Culture Wars: Donald Trump and Sancho Panza
Have you ever, dear reader, stopped mid sentence and pondered why certain everyday terms came about? Everyday I walk my dog. It's good for me, her and the carpet. But why am I calling what we walk upon a sidewalk when in fact it's really more of a frontwalk? Which latter word my artificial "intelligence" word processor just underscored in a red wavy line. Something marvelous was afoot with our history at the time of Shakespeare. Then language was everywhere inchoate. The grammarian pedants were roundly ridiculed.
Cervantes and Shakespeare's "royal houses" were at war. But the two of them as well as their sponsors were at a different sort of war. In your mindseye let Sancho Panza stand for campesinos and bucolic churls that cling to their bible, guns and heroin today, if you will.Now imagine on stage a daily mirror of one's follies. Instead of a pimping up of one's stupidities. Recall that honest Abe was more of a Shakespearean in reality than all of the belle lettered dandified dolts soliloquizing ever and anon.
Yet are you aware dear reader that the august narrator on Don Quixote was none other than the venerable Cide Hamete Benengeli? Today this would be like yours truly advocating that the wonderful metaphor of the Necessary Existent of Ibn Sina be taught in all our schools. Radical...

On the elements of life
The Renaissance Christian humanist idea of Nicholas of Cusa and his co-thinkers was that the developing microcosm of the individual human life is indissolubly and harmonically connected with the ordering of the development of the macrocosm. This principle should adumbrate the true scientific standard for the concept of evolution.
The problem is that most of our scientific research suffers from philosophical illiteracy and lacks the necessary mission oriented direction that should guide it toward maximizing its benefits for the future of society.

True Infinities versus Mathematical Models
These days the wise men of mathematics like to pride themselves on computational modeling. For example, they will attempt to evince wonderment with fractal geometry. Yet, the principle of a nested power series of true infinities much more to the point is found very precisely in Nicholas of Cusa's Vision of God. The English translation of which I have linked above. And it is a grievous error to slander Cusa as a "mystic."
For unlike the superstitious worshipers of numbers such as the egregious case of Sir Isaac Newton's numerologic magical mystical tour of the Bible, Cusa was no such fool. But then such precise and poetic irony always escapes the shallow minds of those that falsely believe if they just put a label, number, or price upon the things of their desires then they own them.

Wilhelm von Humboldt on Creativity
As I was reading a rather tiresome report this morning on the naming of colors, it put me in mind by contrast of the great philologist Wilhelm von Humboldt. This remarkable paragraph coheres with the thrust of what this blog has endeavored to represent. It speaks grandiloquently for itself:
Further on in this same work Humboldt expresses in an understandingly diplomatic tone (for he was such) my precisely undiplomatic polemic against any false equivalence between the model of the Roman empire's evil imperialism (i.e, the "liberal democracy" of British imperialism) and the products of Plato and Aeschylus.
Reality, that is, truth and nature itself, is certainly not less noble than art; it is rather the model of art. Its essence is so great and sublime that, in order for us to approach reality to any extent, the only way open to us is to forge a path as yet unknown, just as art does. The smallest object of reality is infused with the same essence; and it is absolutely wrong, that nature in its perfection could be found only in all its particular objects taken together, that the totality of the vital force could be found only in the sum of the particular moments of its being. Both may certainly appear this way, but one cannot think of space as being severed, or of time as being divided. Everything in the universe is one, and one all—otherwise there is no unity at all in the universe. The force pulsating in the plants is not simply a part of the force of nature, but all of it. Otherwise, an unbridgeable gap is opened between it and the rest of the world, and the harmony of organic forms is thereby irreparably destroyed. Every present moment contains all the past and future in itself, for there is nothing to which the fleetingness of the past can cling, as the perpetuity of living.

The test of modern nations is their feeling for antiquity, and the more they value the Greeks and Romans equally, or the Romans over the Greeks, the more those nations will fail to achieve their characteristic, specially set goal. For in as much as antiquity can be called ideal, the Romans participate therein only to the extent that it is impossible to separate them from the Greeks.

Life should stitch and create ideas by the fullness of its movement, by ideas superior to itself and to every activity. Man should possess a power, both by his own effort and the favor of fate, to produce spiritual phenomena which, measured by the past, are new, and measured by the future, are fertile. And, as art seeks out, or better, generates an ideal beauty in a pure and incorporeal idea, in the same way philosophy should be able to generate truth, and active life generate greatness of character. Everything should therefore constantly remain in activity—creative activity; everything should amount to the fathoming of the still unknown, and the birth of the not yet seen; everyone should believe himself now, to be standing at a point which he must leave far behind.

Steven Hawking: Anti-Science Quack
Hmm. It seems that the professor Hawking's brain has now traveled through some sort of black hole that has reversed time somehow. Very frightening. His mind has somehow melded with Parson Malthus who once wrote in 1798 that the world would starve due to overpopulation. Or perhaps he now agrees with Isaac Newton whose studies in Biblical numerology led him to predict that the apocolypse will occur in the year 2060. Instead they are continuing the narrative with new charges like this: "Trump's son reportedly talked Syria with Russia supporters"

The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste
These discovered brain wave patterns during sleep reinforce gestalt conception of mind/brain nature not reductionist connectionist conceit of bits of information transferred by networks of neurons. The Need for a Riemannian Approach to Scientific Research

How the Poetic Faculty of Hypothesis Overcomes Limits of Human Senses
A result of the fact that human creativity is capable of scientific revolutions is the extension of our very limited mammalian senses into the much broader electromagnetic spectrum. It is the case that we now know that many species are capable of sensing parts of that spectrum walled off from human sense perceptions to ensure their survivability.
A recent study, for instance, hypothesizes a biophysical mechanism that may underlie migratory animal perception of the earth's magnetic field. This research is a prime example of how scientific hypotheses are generated by taking advantage of previous such revolutions.
Further, it must be emphasized that there exists a hierarchical ordering of life forms on this planet that culminates in the unique feature of humanity to go beyond our own bounded senses. Evolution is not a Toss of the Dice
The principle that there is an hierarchical ordering of the earth's biosphere that determines evolution is born out in recent research that shows adaption via disparate genomic pathways in different species. Thus the vector of evolution is not random genetic mutation but a energy landscape constrained and bounded by conditions that prevail in similar ways globally. To understand the implications of this though, one must go beyond the relatively fixed range of possible mutations in mere biological evolution. We can consciously change our mode of energy throughput via deliberate innovations to move to previously unknown resource bases. Whom the Gods Would Destroy...
The whole tone of this article really gets to what is wrong with the American electorate's reality show mindset. Throughout there is a mawkish and fawning aggrandizement of Hillary and company which resembles nothing so much as worship of the gods of Olympus -- Hollywood style.
These were the gods that were capricious and downright bestial. And if you mocked them as anything but perfect then you were ostracized or even sentenced to drink hemlock. Thus Hillary will have a scorched earth vendetta for the vast conspiracy of Julian Assange and the Kremlin from on high in her aerie perch in Mount Olympus.

Sovereign Immunity is Over with JASTA
The doctrine of absolute sovereign immunity is irrational. It is therefore baseless. The real overarching issue is imperialism and geopolitics. Mobocracy: America's Undoing?
The current disgusting state of "infotainment" style, reality show, "direct democracy" is befitting only for half besotted rubes. However, unfortunately, this snake charmer, geek show style of presidential politics currently befouling us is nothing new to the United States. It is the reason that Benjamin Franklin purportedly and provocatively told the anonymous importunate lady "We have given you a Republic if you can keep it."
Symptomatic is the spectacle of the same Jefferson who could write that all men are created equal, yet years later after leaving the White House schemed to institute a manufacturing slave economy in America while attempting to prove when challenged that Benjamin Banneker was of an inferior "race."

Non Entropic Time Reversal: the Case of Mozart and Beethoven
This evening, as I was pondering the commentators on the Presidential debates, I accidentally changed the channel to tune into final movement of Mozart's 40th symphony. I have heard this performed many times, but somehow being taken by surprise and unaware like this, I had a startling "aha" moment.
This connected for me two otherwise seemingly incongruous lines of thought. One was that Beethoven's later deployment of thematic material has a remarkable eeriness when performed and conducted wisely that abruptly brings the the listener to a point of closure and then commences immediately through recapitulation to seemingly reverse time.
This is what I heard quite distinctly and though I was not really concentrating fully on it. An idea rather snuck up one me, almost surreptitiously as though out of the corner of my eye, so to speak, to pair a frankly silly "thought experiment" that modern physics proposes about time reversal and entropy with classical music.
Two things come to mind about this train of thought: one is about the universality of what is sometimes designated as the preconscious. For imagine for a moment, if you will that both Mozart and Beethoven were great lovers of the principle of the American Revolution as a beacon and foreshadowing of a most happy potential for the future of humanity.
The idea that the phase space of an inorganic physical process could reverse the "arrow of time" is tediously wacko. It brings to mind all the mental images of the hapless nerd forever ensconced isolated from reality in their own nerdlike "virtual" fantasy world. Very much like the idea that we have now somehow "emerged" into a utopian information age, where we needn't concern ourselves with the rot, which evermore surrounds and engulfs us... Unless, we have nightmarish qualms that either artificial intelligence will turn on us or worse... aliens will do us in.
However, putting aside such craziness, the real issue of the relativity of time as Einstein approached it is germane to my theme here. For the riddle of the role of quantum mechanics' observer who changes the probability wave function through some magical sort of consciousness. That riddle's solution is just this: time itself is in the perceptual domain only of human intelligence. Thus while we can observe that effects of circadian diurnal rhythm throughout animal life at the cellular level, only we may observe this.
So returning to the great classical composers, in the line from Bach to Brahms. Their thinking was embrued by a Leibnizian optimistic outlook of the beautiful human potential that we live in the best of all possible worlds. It is only from that highest standpoint that we overcome the revulsion for the current status of American politics.
Time reversal is indeed a singular reality in the realm of human governance. Take Plato's supposition in The Republic that as we age the wisest among us turn to issues of how we may best lay that groundwork for the mode of society's principles of continuing well being. Hence it is entirely lawful that the quality in the compositions of Mozart and Beethoven, et al. of "turning on a dime" to recapitulate on an ever higher plain of development is the secret to time reversal.

A Tale of Golden Symmetry and Beyond

Here, peering at the polar hexagon on Saturn from the Cassini spacecraft, we are reminded of Kepler's polemical opus on physical geometry called the six cornered snowflake or De nive sexangula and Gauss' Pentagramma Mirificum.

Bernhard Riemann and the Coming Scientific Renaissance

True scientific inquiry functions upon a mission orientation that Benjamin Franklin adopted from Cotton Mather's principle that a society must be orchestrated to "do the good." Thus, we will prioritize areas of research that will redefine that which we consider to be resources at ever higher levels of usable energy transformational throughput.
Living systems naturally exhibit a higher ordering principle than nonliving ones. Although, in extreme cases such as approaching the speed of light or at absolute zero temperature or of fusion energy confinement regimes, inorganic systems act anomalously via singularities in a well ordered fashion.
Likewise, human creative thought is qualitatively distinct. To be precise, what is meant here by creative thought is that which uniquely bears the potential of transforming society to ever higher levels of both material and psychological well being. Again, Riemann synthesized an approach for how a physical geometry can map these features of physical and mental reality.
If we view a function upon an n-dimensional surface, say one characterized by energetic constraints, be it inorganic, biophysical or mental, their exists a potential for that function to branch into a new domain of higher energetics of new well ordered surfaces of n + 1 dimensionalities. Thus, for instance, we discover that a protein may act precisely as such a singularity that has multiple potential biophysical functions. Further, human individuals have the potential cognitive power to consciously revolutionize practice in multidimensional mental arenas, from science, economics and art.
An Ideology Fit Only for Zombies
If we were serous about reducing costs of healthcare funding for this and related extremely worthwhile research would be increased many times over. But of course this would meet with the usual anti GMO opposition. The romantic idea that a pristine state of nature is preferable to scientific intervention to improve conditions which lead to disease is irrational. Of course, we have been bombarded with this very mindset by the supposed intellectual elites who tell us that we will never go back to a manufacturing economy. This morning, while drinking my coffee, I read an article about sunspots and solar activity which seemed quite plausible to my meager understanding of climate science. So, as always I went on to read the comments. Whoa! I murmured to myself. Someone has hacked into my identity and is now posting scurrilous and insane ripostes on the Internet in my heretofore unsullied name. Oh, imagine if you will my utter chagrin! The mortification... I must here and now denounce this utter fraud and hoaxer! Instanter! I promise to get to the bottom of this evil hack. Here meanwhile is what that clearly demented impostor had the effrontery to post in my name:

The Choice: A Descent into Monstrous Barbarity or the Age of Space Colonization
Confronting Humanity currently are twin evils of an oligarchic financial system and a dark age rule of terror. These are inextricably bound as a deliberate outcome of the practice of a truly evil geopolitics.

The importance of this study lies far beyond the surface issue of hearing. As the comparison for the visual cortex hints there is a unifying principle for the organization of the biological senses. On the level of ontology, the issue is whether the senses are a sort of blank slate or tabula rasa, or as Leibniz demonstrated there exists a pre-established harmony at a higher level of organization. In Leibniz' New Essays on Human Understanding, he refutes John Locke's assertions that knowledge is derived from mere sense certainty. The underlying issue is one of the choice of scientific methodology. The ideology that science is the mere logical construct derived from sensory input is a crippling mental condition which undermines progress. The necessity for an overriding mission for humanity to continuously perfect its practice is the principle that today entails our emergence as a space based civilization which can conquer manifold threats to our survival as a species in so doing. Indeed, without the contributions of Leibniz and co-thinkers, the development of physics which enables such a space based civilization would be impossible. For it was through Riemann's anti radical empiricism and non Euclidean geometry, that the groundwork was laid for Einstein's theory of relativity.

Edward Snowden and the Unconstitutional Executive Order 12333
The truth is Executive Order 12333 which authorizes that American citizens shall be treated as enemy nationals for the undefined objective of protecting "national security" itself is unconstitutional, period. This is the preeminent issue here. The drip by drip erosion of our constitution has been ongoing for decades. In particular, I experienced the use of 12333 against the organization with which I was formerly affiliated, that headed by Lyndon LaRouche. When it got too close to the corridors of power with Reagan's adoption of the SDI, all proverbial hell broke loose against it, including a paramilitary style invasion of its headquarters.
At the time, LaRouche's investigation of this egregious attack by his political opponents uncovered the use of that very same 12333 that Snowden was questioning as a violation of the constitutionally protect right against unwarranted surveillance and entrapment of American citizens.

A Perspective on the Mind
The research on brain functioning as it correlates to experiential stimuli both in place and time is related to conformal mapping in synthetic geometry. The Mind Is Not a Computer
The incessant popularization of the dogma of so-called computer scientists and neuro-biologists alike that intelligence is just the product of electro-chemical signals is simply put insane. The wretched ontology of this is merely a "modernist" rehashing of the "school" of the British radical empiricism of Locke, et al. that Leibniz devastatingly refuted point by point in his wonderful expose New Essays on Human Understanding.
The problem is that today's supposed "scientific method" is also based upon this sort of nominalist drivel. To hysterically believe that the uniquely human mind is merely an assorted aggregation of a computer-like code of ones and zeros is anathema to the rightful perspective of our qualitatively unique position in the ongoing composition of universal development. It is amazing frankly that given such an overarching debilitating and insidious epistemology controlling most academic institutions that we have yet to exterminate ourselves.

Reflection upon "Most distant massive galaxy cluster identified"
As the great Bernhard Riemann observed, on the scale of the nearly infinite, seeming causal constraints that govern our finite reality break down. For instance, how can it be that we detect both super massive black holes that are apparently sucking in whole stellar systems like the drain in a bathtub at the same time there that space itself is expanding through the so called cosmological constant? As for this newly discovered galaxy cluster, what is the force that holds them together? A super-super massive black hole?
Attempts to resolve such ironic anomalies through a grand unification theory by some sort of algebraic approach where we create the unknown parameters out of the strings of whole cloth is foolish. The real question is what sort of inherent potential is there in an evolving universe that allows for disparate yet interacting hierarchies of the inorganic, biophysical, and noetic. And in that particular context, what orientation should humanity adopt?
Because currently, we are being driven by patently suicidal impulses due to poor, mostly subconscious, choices regarding our belief of what constitutes human nature. Conversely, our destiny can be to conquer and tame such apparently chaotic cosmic and quantum forces for the benefit of our futurity. Or in the footsteps of Benjamin Franklin's gift of the lightning rod, our adopted mission must simply be to do The Good.

What Makes an Elite? A Reflection upon Immortality.
If the mind and soul is concentrated and oriented upon a mission to afford future generations a creative spark then this equates to a true character of happiness. And this is an uplifting quality which we all have in potential as uniquely human. That is the essence of our equality. In this way the ending of the Keats poem Ode on a Grecian Urn rings a clarion trumpet.:

Good versus Evil
What perspective do those hold who see the world stage as a perpetual source of chaos and calamity? It must by necessity be an apology for an imperium. A need for keeping the restive masses of humanity constantly at each others throats rather than at their real enemy. The "gods" must be honored and yet provide amusements amidst this veil of tears. Nothing really changes. It is pure illusion. There is an infinite empty space of society's ranks that allows for the rearrangement of titles like mere points on a grid that are meaningless in the end. This is the unspoken belief and "religion" that actuates the would be servitors of illusory financial power.
And yet there are those who would see and hear beauty amidst this most unnatural state of affairs. So thus Abraham Lincoln, William Shakespeare and Ludwig Van Beethoven's lives are as a beacon for the foolish few that would kick against the pricks. For in the end, what remains of our having lived but an example of a unremitting will to bequeath a mission to futurity that can finally overcome the insanity of worship of the graceless and execrable Mammon of the City of London and Wall Street? A will to discover and do the good, whatever the so-called odds of its attainment.

The Natural Order is Not Random
With the evidence that T Cells operate to direct mutations in order to combat invading diseases at the molecular level, it naturally follows that species operate in a similar manner against external threats. However, only one species, humanity, that we know of, acts self consciously to accelerate its own future well being by developing new degrees of freedom via the advent of technologies that redefine its resource base. Now we are being propagandized that we must give up this very mission orientation, in order to save mother nature. But that would be equivalent to operating with a sort of suicidal death wish. Just such an unnatural worldview has been promoted as wisdom increasingly over the course of the past century. Thus the irrational doctrine of randomness pervades the supposed intelligentsia.

This really boils down to an issue of the ontological premise of supposed stuff called "information." Bernhard Riemann's 1854 habilitation thesis addressed the issue of continuity versus discreteness at its most fundamental level. There is no final elemental physical stuff isolated and apart from human cognition. Rather there is an ongoing evolvability, if you will, of substance that is confined to interacting domains of the inert, biotic, and noetic. A recently non hysterical report on investigations regarding the solar minimum nature of cyclical sunspot activity and climate change was refreshingly welcome. This is especially so given the neo-Malthusian climate change agenda bombarding the "unenlightened masses" as "scientific" gospel. And these days the term gospel is germane given the turn away from the commandment to be fruitful and multiply in the book of Genesis toward the murderous worldview of the mother earth cults like Gaia afoot in today's putative academia. Listening to Obama's rhetoric (and Britain's Prince Philip, who wishes openly to be reincarnated as a deadly virus to cull the human herd of misfits) one could easily envision a newly minted form of a ministry of truth aimed at early construction of reeducation camps for the "deniers."

We are currently being misgoverned by a sort of church of latter day Luddites. And if we continue to deny this manifest quality of a higher ordering of human affairs that are not merely beholden to such cyclical "blind" forces of nature, we as a society will cause a radical new dark age far, far worse than any we have caused by such execrable benighted behavior heretofore.
If, on the other hand, we were to be governed by a unifying global initiative to develop the next phase of human history, the nuclear fusion age, including a cooperative space program to mine the fusion fuel helium 3 on the moon while protecting society from the danger of cometary impacts and space weather, vast water management and desalination projects, then we will have put to rest the madness of the age of mutually assured destruction. This can only come about by a take down of a cancerous speculative financial system that seeks to use geopolitical proxy warfare to control "limited" resources.

Why DNA Code, No matter How Complex, Cannot Account for Creative Thought
"How can anyone say that these overlapping codes involving hundreds of thousands of interacting factors is in any way random?" Precisely correct.
However, one needs to differentiate mere perception from higher order uniquely human thought of the type that revolutionizes technological practice. That is an order of complexity that is nowhere to be modeled by any possible binary sort of code. Why? Because such type of thinking is necessarily not fixed but uniquely coheres in a fugal manner with the ongoing development of the universal potential.
