The British empire's East Indies Company's nineteenth century Great Game was not waged just in the cockpit of the Caucasus but the world over.  This emphatically included the sponsorship of radical social movements.  At the time that Edgar Allan Poe waged a literary battle with the likes of Transcendentalist's Margaret Fuller, AKA Marchessa Ossoli.
